The USAID Empower Credit SupportUsaid Projects
The USAID Empower Credit Support Project, was implemented from June 2014 to June 2017.
This project facilitated access to finance for SMEs in Kosovo by establishing a non-banking
financial institution providing partial loan guarantees to banks. The primary goal was to increase
private sector employment and investment. The project also focused on supporting banks in
transitioning to a cash flow-based lending model and establishing a local institution for credit
guarantees. Services provided included advisory services to the banking sector, support in
establishing the financial institution, training on credit risk management, and structuring
multi-donor support for guarantee capital.
